Elaine Penhaul is the Queen of UK Home Staging, staging homes for some of the biggest Estate Agency firms in the UK with herself and colleagues from Lemon and Lime Interiors . In the late Summer of 2021, she came to Grantham to sit on the WatkinSofa to chat all things home staging. In this video we talked about why only 1% of Estate Agents use home staging as part of their marketing.
Love this
Yes, the contrast between US and UK in utilising a Stager ( or not) has always been interesting to me. It just seems to be an automatic part and process of selling a property in the US. Thanks for sharingπ
UK property market is a disaster outside of London if I am being honest. I am from the US and I have never had such grief trying to sell a house. I inherited property in the UK and have been stuck with it for 2 years now. Have had series of very bad lazy agents (find me a good one in the UK I ask), several offers collapsed due to the stupid system of having no deposit and taking ages to close, and of course it has not been a great market. But I said from day one the house is a tricky one to sell/historic and needed staging badly to maintain a good price point, our agents couldnt be bothered and just tell us to put the price down. We had several valuations and went for the lowest, being reasonable and have now dropped the price a good amount. I believe they are undervaluing it as wel now have Joe Blows coming round who are cheap and would not be able to afford the upkeep. Basically they want us to drop the price to nothing to sell since they can’t be bothered. Also 3 months off market to list as new!!! mental, especially when you have offers fail not of your fault! In the US it is 2 weeks. You couldnt pay me to live there, baffled that no one can be bothered to change this archaic system.
